This half term our class text is Hansel and Gretel.
Exploring the themes from Hansel and Gretel through Philosophy for Children.
After reading ‘The Truth about Hansel and Gretel,’ the witch paid us a visit. We put her in the hot seat and interrogated her by asking open questions…she couldn’t scare us!
We’ve been using dictionaries and thesauruses to edit and improve our writing.
Making gingerbread houses in D.T has helped us to write some fantastic fairytale setting descriptions.
We really got to know the story and the characters well through drama. Our favourite part to act out was when Gretel pushed the witch into the oven to save her brother. What a hero!
Enjoying our class book, ‘Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs.’
We’ve loved reading all about Harry’s adventures with his dinosaurs. He’s got such a good imagination, just like us!
Miss Archer wrote a set of instructions for us to follow; ‘How to eat a cookie.’ We tried to follow them and soon realised how important it is that instructions are written in the correct order. Hers were all jumbled up and hard to follow. We did much better instructing our talk partners, we loved being bossy and got to eat cookies too!
